All Worth It

My nephew sent me a text message asking me about my day.  I told him I was relaxing watching the Dodgers after working 12 hours today.  I added that I was trying to save money for L'amore.  He then asked me how much I needed and then where from there.  WOW.  Sweet.  His concern is sincerely sweet.  I let him know that everything was coming together slowly but surely, but a cool $20 grand wouldn't hurt.  

Doing all I can do without a financier .  Someone even told me today that if I had financial backing that he would sign on to do all the business side, so that I could spend my time designing.  Tempting but I'm a very smart girl and thankfully I know things will come together.  I feel very secure in that knowledge.

And saying that - if anyone wants to back L'amore Intimo - it would be well worth your dollars, and you are sure to reap a plentiful harvest.

Target

I've seen what my competition has to offer and on a much larger scale, but I thought it would be cool to check out what the other side has to offer -- so I went to Target.  They have a lot of bras, and panties.  Nothing that I imagine L'amore to be but simple and quite fun.  The prices are what you would expect from Target and I'd shop there before going to JC Penney - not really into shopping for lingerie on a main fairway in a large department store.  

Research is always a good thing.

Money Matters

Before the money starts rolling in I thought it best to open up my official L'amore Intimo banking account.  I had to give them information about my licensing and now I feel very very authentic.  All I need is an iPhone and the credit card application and we got a retail business!  Wholesale too!  Just have to work on getting the websites where I want them to be and sew more designs that are crowding my mind.  

This is way more fun than running from dogs.

Debut Success!

As if I would have had it any other way! The word at the sorority house was unanimous - thumbs up on the L'amore designs. The gift basket and the gift certificates earned the charity a very pretty penny! That's great news. These are coeds with not lots of moola to spend but they spent on L'amore! Maybe men don't buy undies during a poor economy but the ladies surely do!

This is great news to me and all of my supporters. Now the real work begins. I am set with my EIN and DBA, and the Seller's permit, and trademark, and the websites are coming along. Just waiting for the May 17th release of www.lamoreintimo.com. All is on track and I ready to go. There will be more designs posted of the birthstone thongs with the 12 gift certificates all gone to lucky auction winners. Keep watching.

To me it's a place setter of great things to come -- I call them holder pages but yahoo calls them starter pages.  Either way it's a front page when your website is under construction and you wish for it to say something more than "under construction".  So under construction for L'amore Intimo are:

Up All Night

What I learned from pulling the all-nighter or not sleeping from the time I woke yesterday morning at 8:30AM until I zonked out about 3 hours ago...  All niters cause severe eye aches and headaches and maybe some beautiful things get created but you forge to take a picture because sleep is necessary to remember things.  But the gift basket and 12 gift certificates are complete and ready for tomorrow's charity auction.

Everything I do is from a place deep inside my heart.

Update -- The sorors in charge of the auction say that the basket and the gift certificates will be a great success tomorrow.  They have already decided to use the gift certificates as an exclusive raffle, with the tickets starting at $20 a piece.  They even accessed the pantie basket to be valued at $125 - the panties alone are $150, but they were way close to the value of my design and workmanship.  Yay me!

Twelve Hour Day

Almost 13 hours really.  Wish they could have been spent in sewing but these hours were spent in the hills.  At times I thought good ol' betsy - my SUV - wasn't going to make it over the tricky terrain.  Thankfully we made it without a scratch but it was tricky - not a lot of fun and very dusty.  But four of those hours will be paid as overtime.

I dream of the day that L'amore Intimo will be the overtime hours I'm working, vice the exhausted hours.  Boohoohoo -- I'm a grateful for the opportunity to learn my dream into a reality and facilitating it with this job.  The freedom of being independence.

"They Don't Pay Us Enough!"

Tonight I'm home trying to wind down after this busy day.  Adventures in canvassing is really taking it's toll.  If you've been following my adventures as posted on my other blog - troop 180 productions - then you know I've been dealing with crazy crazies and I'm doing it all for L'amore.  To fund this wonderful adventure of crafting beautiful sensual apparel to "release the passion in you".  

One day I'm sure I'll look back on this and laugh.  Laugh about the hot days I spent canvassing southern California streets updating maps for the 2010 census.  Laugh about the dogs charging after me.  Laugh especially about the one that looked like a wolf and snuck up behind me and nudged by ankle ever so creepy - cujo dog!  Laugh at the bi-polar woman who yelled at her husband the whole time we were standing in front of their house, about us upsetting the dogs.  Just perhaps it was all her yelling.  Laugh at the near miss of racing across train tracks with a metrolink subway car bearing down on us.  All to close for comfort, but soon I will have enough money to pay for all my business licensing and also money in my business account to continue to create pretty little things.

The Art of Running Uphill

Yesterday while working on the gift certificates for the charity auction I found the exact blue and brown I want for L'amore Intimo.  Although creatively made vice hiring a professional, I like them - alot.

Today after the outside world stopped and I got off, I was able to do some more research on how to save money on all these business form filings I have to do.  I found the seller's permit form on Saturday and today I found the EIN form.  Both of these forms added additional cost to the work Legalzoom would do - but the secret is, they are free if you get the forms online and fill them out and file them yourself.  YAY!  I'm still utilizing Legalzoom.

Moved on to trademark research.  Seems it was very good that I own www.lamoreintimo.com.  Legal advice informed me that by owning this already, it would be quite foolish of someone to try to trademark it because they don't own the domain.  No worries. Trademark pending.  Plus it was half the cost to do it myself than through Legalzoom.  If you want to know how - ask me.  YAY!

--but not under the feet of my serger.  That's the bad news.  The good news is I'm getting used to running uphill and it's becoming a lot easier.  Prioritizing is the key.  What due date will come first?  Got it?  That's the priority.

Sew and Sew and

Lately I'm creating more dresses for special events than panties.  But it's cool.

Today as I was shopping in JoAnn's fabrics it dawned on me - I have panties to create for a gift basket for next Sunday and I have yet to start.  A pantie a day until I have to make more to keep up.  I'll get them done and report it here.

While speaking with a businessman who owns a few car repair shops I got some great business gouge.  Now I'm back to my research -- LLC or DBA?  Definitely TradeMark and seller's permit.  Lots to think about lots to do.  I'm loving it.

Where's L'amore?

L'amore is here after being shelved for a few days due to adventures in canvassing.  The canvassing is at a halt right now and more L'amore time is available.  

What's going on is next Sunday, April 26, 2009, L'amore Intimo will be donating 12 "Birthstone Thongs" to a CSUN sorority for their annual charity fundraiser.  Gift certificates are being designed for door prizes, and a "Release the Passion in You" basket is being put together for auction.  The basket will include 3 beautiful designs (a $400 value), sensual candles, and a certificate for L'amore Intimo's first romance novelette.  Not too shabby eh?

Men Don't Buy Underwear?

But do they buy panties...

Last night while watching "perfect hair" Anderson Cooper 360, I was surprised to hear a report about the economy and how it effects men's purchases of underwear.  

OK GUYS - what's up?  A word to the wise -- it won't be you if you hold on to holy drawers.  Yes, I know L'amore Intimo only plans to carry the L'amore Boxer and now considering a boxer brief that's all the rage -- but don't skimp on the skivvies.  Speaking from knowing - women, the ladies, even/especially wives prefer and appreciate clean fresh underwear on and off their beau.

L'amore Intimo's slogan or brand motto - releasethepassioninyou.com is now an active domain - it will soon be used as a place holder for lamoreintimo.com which has to sit until May 17th.  I also registered birthstonethong.com  Very busy trying to get everything in order.  

My business cards look wonderful -  A heartfelt thank you to him who first called me L'amore, which spawned the name L'amore Intimo.!

"Price" less

Pounding the pavement in my adventures in canvassing for the US Census Bureau has assured me that it is imperative to get L'amore Intimo up and running.  However as I add up the cost of business - well to protect this wonderful name I have chosen for this business it's not cheap.  An LLC is going to be $810 and to trademark the name will be another $614.  The sheer thought that this is a beautiful business that will champion women to "release the passion..." is priceless.

Need a Wrench?

What to do when life throws you a wrench?  Catch it -- you might need it for later to tighten some loose ends.  

Go Daddy is the temporary parking spot for lamoreintimo.com, and I can't transfer my site over to yahoo small business until next month - March 17th to be exact.  That will delay the holding page I was planning on until that day, but that's cool.  No harm no foul.  It can only mean that the holding age will be that much better.

Everything I do...

is still from a place deep inside my heart.  Unfortunately I have been way busy with everything other than being an entrepreneur.  I hate it!  An old supervisor of mine once told me to remember life is too short to waste on doing something that makes you ultimately miserable.  

How does that pertain to today?  With the economy?  IDK.  But what I do know is that working for the Census Bureau is tedious work.  The connections I have made may prove to be very valuable but at what price?  The pre-launch?

The pre-launch  It won't be a physical event to attend after all -- it will be an internet launch, and it will still feature the faces of L'amore Intimo.  That's the plan.
